During difficult times, whether that’s in the present situation, a past experience, or even a future experience, fear tends to consume us. That can include anything from the fear of failure to the fear of loneliness to the fear of rejection, and on and on and on. The unfortunate truth is that fear, however small, is almost always present in our lives in some way or another.
When pushed into these hard times, we can sometimes find ourselves thinking of the worst situations possible. We scare ourselves by imagining all sorts of situations that can burden us. This feeling is sometimes so strong and so influential, that it can become the beginnings of serious mental damage. We think: “It’s too strong to overcome”….“It’s too strong to fight back”….“It’s too powerful”….”There’s nothing I can do”… Right?
WRONG.
There IS something we can do. There IS a power we can harness to get through these times. And that is the power of Faith. Faith over fear. Faith with a capital “F”.
Faith, with a capital “F”, is such a strong concept that it just deserves that capital letter. The reason it’s so powerful is because, if it’s honest, it’s persists even through troubling times. It’s a constant, even when bad things in the world try so hard to change it.
In times of extreme fear, uncertainty, difficulties, or whatever situation that may arise, we have to channel that Faith. Faith in ourselves, Faith in our future, Faith in our choices, Faith in our loved ones, Faith in the good, and so much more. This concept of Faith is different than that of “hope” in that it transcends the mind and stems deep within one’s spirit and soul. It is deeply rooted in our hearts.
In fact, research says that by increasing Faith, our fear decreases over time. This is because that Faith becomes so powerful that even the “once-powerful” fear ends up succumbing.
It’s kind of similar to a rock that stands firm in its ground. No matter what external forces fight to hurt it, it is persistent. Our Faith has to be like that. Let’s challenge ourselves to have Faith, always, and to remember to place Faith over fear.
