Have you ever been so bored at home and had no idea what to do? Here are a bunch of things you can do from the comfort of your home when you find yourself really bored!
Cuddle up in a corner and read a book
This has been one of my favorite things to do recently. Although I don’t do it everyday, I definitely have been enjoying those days where I can have some reading time to myself.
Listen to a podcast
I love podcasts! Leave a comment below if you do too! I subscribed to so many podcasts and listen to them on the daily. I learn SO much from them and they are great to have on when I am folding laundry or cleaning!
Make a new recipe
Sometimes, I just want to cook my heart out. I like trying new recipes (within reason though, I’m not a super adventurous foodie by any means) that I find from other blogs, Pinterest, YouTube videos, etc.
Catch up with a friend
If you read one of my recent posts about lessons I learned in 2020, you’ll know that this is really important. I know that whenever I receive a message from a friend checking up on me, it leaves me feeling extra loved. Community is important!
Make a playlist for different occasions
I love to have different playlists for different occasions just ready to go on my phone (I use the Spotify app) if I ever need/want them. I also like to update them regularly as my music tastes can change. This is a great way to kill some free time, and it also proves to be quite useful later on.
Organize/clean an area of your house
I know not everyone likes to clean or organize. But I think it’s safe to say that not everyone loves a mess either. Taking it one room/area at a time makes the whole cleaning process a lot easier! You won’t get tired easily but you’ll have spent your time wisely!
Spend some time with your mind
This is a difficult one, but we can all use this. Have some time to yourself. What are you thinking about? What’s worrying you? How are you feeling?
Sit outside and look up at the sky
I love doing this. Stay tuned for an upcoming post about this in the near future. Sometimes, I just randomly look up at the sky and stare at the clouds. I breathe in the fresh air and just observe nature. It usually makes me feel at peace.
Write down any goals you have
Also add how exactly you will achieve them! Be specific!
Do an online class on Skillshare
It doesn’t have to be through Skillshare, but learning a new skill is a great way to pass time. You can never have too many under your belt.
Learn a new language
More specifically, learn a new language! I know a few people who have been using their free time recently to learn a new language. Why not enhance your knowledge with some new words?
Get up and stretch
With all the working from home, this is probably something you will not regret. Who knows? Maybe the arm stretches will turn into a full-blown yoga session.
Write a poem
Not many people know this, but I love to write poetry in my free time. It’s also a creative alternative to journaling, if journaling isn’t to your liking.
Make a joy list
What brings you joy? True joy. Write it all down and come back to it on those difficult days.
Plan out the next week
“Failure to plan is planning to fail”
Watch a TED Talk
This is a great way to learn useful information. Just type in a topic you are curious about + TED Talk, in Google, and I’m sure something great will pop up!
Start a new board on Pinterest
I love Pinterest so much! It’s easily one of my favorite apps of all time. From clothes to recipes to decor inspiration and so much more, the possibilities are endless! And there’s certainly something for everyone! The best part is that you can tailor it to your liking and follow other accounts with similar posts.
Light a candle and listen to relaxing music
You can even throw in reading your favorite book!
Do some meal planning for the next week
A little meal planning on the weekend never hurts! It can also help with your grocery budget too.
Declutter your closet
It’s always a good idea to go through your closet every few months and see if there is anything you outgrew or you genuinely haven’t worn in a long time. You can gather them up and start a donation pile.
Declutter your phone’s apps/photos
I usually end up doing this when I’m on a long flight, after I have exhausted my travel playlist but I also don’t want to sleep. I take some time to declutter my phone and delete any photos I don’t need or apps I don’t use.
Take some Buzzfeed quizzes
This is so much fun to do! There are so many interesting/quirky quizzes on Buzzfeed like “What ice cream flavor are you?”. I know they don’t make any sense but hey, they always make me laugh. And it’s always fun to share your results with others and see if they got the same thing!
